Abhimanyu Mishra is an American chess prodigy from New Jersey.  He currently holds the record for the youngest Grandmaster in the world, having qualified for the title at the age of 12 years 4 months and 25 days, [1] breaking Sergei Karjakin's record.  [2]



He broke the United States Chess Federation's record for the youngest specialist by earning a 2000 USCF rating at the age of 7 years, 6 months and 22 days, and Avander Liang's record.  [3] He then broke the US chess record for the youngest national master by earning a 2200 USCF rating at the age of 9 years, 2 months and 17 days, breaking Liran Zhou's record.  He holds the world record for the youngest International Master, a title he earned in November 2019 at the age of 10 years, 9 months and 20 days, breaking Rameshbabu Pragyananand's record.  [5] [6] FIDE gave him the title in February 2020.[7]



In March 2021, Misra tied for first place with GM Vladimir Belous at the Spring 2021 GM Norm Invitational at the Charlotte Chess Center held in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a score of 5.5/9 and crossed 2400 FIDE on an official for the first time.  .  rating list.  [8] In April 2021, Misra tied for first place with Soumo Basak, earning his first GM benchmark, with a score of 7.0/9 and a performance rating of 2603 at the Vezarkepzo GM tournament in Budapest, Hungary.

When Abhimanyu Mishra was two and a half years old, Hemant introduced him to chess.  He started beating his father in the fifth year itself and started participating in local tournaments.  In those tournaments, Abhimanyu started beating players of his father's age.

Abhimanyu's coach Arun Prasad shared an incident related to him. Arun Prasad told, 'He was just nine years old when he was fielded in a match against a 70-year-old player.  However, Abhimanyu defeated him in no time.  Then I thought I was watching history being made.  I soon realized that Abhimanyu was not normal.  He remembers everything he sees.  Abhimanyu remembers the moves of the 2014 and 2015 games.  His mind absorbs everything in itself.


Abhimanyu started traveling at the age of 7.  He also became the youngest national champion in America.  After this Abhimanyu (10 years, 9 months, three days) became the youngest international master in the world.  In November 2019, he broke India's record of R Pragananda (10 years, 9 months, 20 days).
